Most expensive photo ever sold $4.3 million in 2011

This is the most expensive photo ever sold, (see link above) which, although lovely, I would have accepted less for. It sold for $4.3million. I see photos on here every day that I like equally.

What is your most expensive photo?

I am yet to receive payment for a photo but I did get a double pass to a local theme park for this one that made it into the local paper:)


ps those who follow me will know that I thought it was my 'rain' photo that got in the paper... it was actually this one that I sent in earlier.

Seriously - that Rhine II photo sold for that much? I am missing something in it I think....

I've never made anything from my photos, but I do enjoy taking them so much :)

The Rhein II got sold by the collector for that much. I wonder how much the artist initially got for it.

geeze, its even been edited to remove bits. good on them for getting that much for it, its amazing what people will buy.

@sarahricho pretty much all images you see in print media or galleries are Photoshopped its just the norm, as for the Rhein image....WTF!!! think I will try are duplicate it. : )

@monika64 Yes, a very silly one because the actual photo is so, well dull!! So I added my cows to it to liven it up, but we found out that there's a strict code of reuse and alteration. It was fun though! ; )

yeah I don't get it. It's a boring shot in my opinion. the horizontal lines may be nearly perfect but 4.3 million? must be nice to toss around that kind of dough.

Honestly I don't even think that's a shot I would take, and if I did I don't think I would share it. "Blah" and "Yawn" are the emotions this image evokes. Maybe I do need to see it mounted on huge glass to fully appreciate it.
