show me your cameras and gear...

April 1st, 2012
today alone there were at least half a dozen photos of cameras on my dashboard... shall we put them all in one place?

here's one of mine, of an "old" camera... i'm trying to see if i can use it, but i think it may be broken... it makes funny whirring noises and advances the film even when i haven't clicked the shutter...

I also have a Canon Powershot SX20 (use only for video or taking the above photos), a little Kodak point and shoot, iPhone 4, Holga, Lubitel

For lighting I have an SB800 hotshoe flash, AlienBee B1600 studio strobe

Tripod, monopod, triggers, other gadgets... double R-strap, single R-strap...

This all goes into two Lowepro backpacks. Kinda. I don't think it all fits now

It's a little out of date - but this is my favorite shot of my gear.

I have a metric crapton of cameras - almost all of which I use regularly - but here are some of my favorites:

Back in January I thought I was going to break my 365 project addiction after one year. Now I am done with three months through year two. I looked in a couple of dusty corners and boxes and found this stuff. I know I have some others around.

My Sony NEX-C3, a mirrorless interchangeable with the 30mm f/3.5 macro lens. Since putting the macro lens on, I've not taken it off. When I'm not doing macro shots, I use my 4-year-old Lumix FZ-18 compact.

Here is a photo of some of the gear I take on a standard location portrait shoot.

I haven't used this yet, but I picked it up during an op shop trip...cost me $7.50 :)

@peterdegraaff - I'm not sure it even works anymore, Peter.
April 1st, 2012
@pwallis omg... waaaaay too cute ;p

@hmgphotos @jools i was just looking at my THREE lenses and wondering how i was going to choose today... can't imagine how i'd decide between 7 or 8! and yeah, i probably have fine collection of p&s kicking about, not to mention all the cameras in the itouches and iphones @@

@agima i think i remember that shot, and thinking i wouldn't know where to begin...

@sudweeks @mcrt @beautifulthing @kjarn @peterdegraaff it's amazing what one finds one all of a sudden NEEDS, isn't it :D

@winshez gosh - don't think i've ever seen one of those before!

@meisen325 congrats on the new aquisition!

@myautofocuslife @anzere03 @emjay8 @mej2011 i think there's something to be said for keeping it simple! commitment and loyalty are a good thing :)

The bottom picture is the cameras I have gone through to were I am today with a canon 500D. Still use the little Nikon coolpix though.
April 1st, 2012
@sudweeks Oh my that's a big bunch of lenses you have there.

Here's one of my pics.

April 1st, 2012
here is just some of mine. the rest is in my bag, which is a 55-200mm nikon lens, 8mm rokinon f/2.8 fisheye lens, wireless remote for the nikon, and filters, and a gorillapod for the camcorders.
April 1st, 2012
@dlemma is the the one reasonably priced manual focus fisheye? I was looking at getting a Rokinon fisheye last summer, then realized I hardly would ever use it. How do you like it?

@jools You might consider donatimg them! If they still work, there's someone out there that would love to have one of them. Maybe someone with a small child or baby that can't afford one. Or they make great starter camera for kids...if they break it, no big loss, really.
April 1st, 2012
@anzere03 It's my first rangefinder! I need to get out and work with it more. I'm a little disappointed - I went through hell and high water getting a battery for it, and it looks like there's an issue with the circuitry, because the Check Battery light comes on but I still have no exposure/light metering. :( Perhaps I'll try to fix it one of these days.
April 1st, 2012
@mcrt - I have a home for any of those canon lenses that don't fit back in your dusty cupboards !!! (I've just bought a Canon !)
April 1st, 2012
here is my month-old canon, and the best camera I've owned...so jealous of everyone's gear - you have sooo many lenses...I only have the kit one and my new 50 mm.....there is so much I want (but jobless at the moment...or resting as I like to think !)

April 1st, 2012
@pwallis I'm jealous!
April 1st, 2012
@sharonaddison I agree: jealous! But hey: we don't have to decide which ones to carry around ;)
April 1st, 2012
Wow! You all have so many cameras that all look professional.
I only have one (and can't take a picture of it) and that's a Sony DSC-W320. :)
April 1st, 2012
@hmgphotos I love it. If you do order the rokinon make sure you get from b&h photo. They have the one with the chip in the lens so it works with all modes on the camera. I had ordered the same lens from amazon but it didn't have the chip it in and had to use the camera on manual all the time. There is a couple shots in my project shot with the lens.
