We get some crazy weather up here in the Texas panhandle from time to time. Since it's so flat here, you can see the storms coming for miles:
But since it is so flat, the winds across the plains can get a little insane at times. Chicago's got nothing on Amarillo as far as being "The Windy City." But as such, we'll get a mud storm every so often, and, about once a year or so, we'll get one of these:
The dust storms are just a part of life around here, but they do have a great side effect. All the dust in the atmosphere can create an amazing palette of colors in the sky during that day's sunset. The sunset below was after a particularly windy day in the are:
