Perth here I come......

August 23rd, 2012
I am heading over to Perth for one week on a business trip mid next month and I want to make the most of my time and take a few happy snaps....

The problem is I have never been there so, tell me what are the must do photographs in Perth?

KIngs Park gorgeous gardens and great view of the city and Swan river, Fremantle, great old architecture and street performers, our great beaches especially at sunset. South Perth on the foreshore is also nice for city pics. The crawely boat house on the narrows (one in my project...a must photograph in Perth ;) ), the bell tower on the river (in city)
I will try and think of more.

UWA has some beautiful architecture. Any of the beaches are great but if you get some stormy weather head to Cottesloe where the waves break over the 'groin'. Rottnest - if you have time to get over there - is fabulous and has heaps of great photo spots. Enjoy.

If you get a chance to venture out of Perth the Pinnacles at Nambung, north of Perth are an amazing site but you need to get there early before the tourist buses! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pinnacles04.jpg
It's also the middle of the wildflower season and the locals will tell you the best spots.

The skyline - especially from (I think) Kings Park - up on a hill. The touristy bus goes that way. And the beautiful Swan River.

@marieooi I like that boat shed. That is something I dont get to photograph a lot here in Canberra. :)

@judithdeacon Hey they are neato. I dont know if I will have the time to drive too far as I will only have a Sunday and half a Saturday to myself. i will have time after hours during the week however... :)

@flagged Great shots. :)

I think I will be staying at Esplanade hotel Fremantle, where ever the hell that is????

I stayed at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle in April. It is ideally situated just across the park from the water and walking distance from the city centre and old Fremantle jail.

@agima Esplanade hotel Fremantle is situated across from the fishing boat harbour in Fremantle great spot. Are you working in Perth CBD? as fremantle is about 15-20min drive or train trip.
I have lots of images taken in and around Fremantle as well eg;

The Esplanade is a nice hotel in a great spot in the heart of Freo. Right near Fishing Boat Harbour, the Round House, the old Freo Jail, the markets, the maritime museum and a great park across the road for people watching/shooting!

@flagged @mummarazzii

I'm heading to Fremantle for all of next week! Seems you two know a lot about Fremantle as well as Perth . . . any particular seasonal recommendations you may have in addition to the ones listed above?

Do either of you do photo walks with others :) ?
