Now that the body of the last king of the House of York, Richard 111, has finally been located - dug up from a car park in Leicestershire - no kidding, even though I didn't realise they had car parks in 1485 (!) - I would like to locate any other Yorkists out there in 365 land.
Just to qualify that last statement, I'd like to hear from anyone living in the York region, with the possibility for a bit of mutual support, suggestions for locations and maybe a future photo shoot.
@julieco Thanks for the news about Richard. Somehow I missed it. I've been a believer since I readDaughters of Time. I once talked my husband into finding many places connected with him, even the out of the way ones. I love Yorkshire and recommend photographing Fountains and Riveaux Abbeys. Or anywhere actually
OK - I'd better confess that I was actually born and grew up in the Liverpool area, which makes me a Lancastrian but we got our visas to move to Yorkshire due to my husband's job in 1984, which means I've spent about half my life in each camp! The scenery around North Yorkshire is so stunning that I'm glad I live here now I've discovered photography. I really would like to be in contact with any 365ers in the York area.
Wrong side of the Pennines for me - brought up in Manchester although I went to uni in Sheffield so I have fondness for both! Anyway, living in Cambridgeshire now so no help!

Thanks for the responses from those of you nearby. Would anybody be interested in coming over to the beautiful Howardian Hills and getting some images of the surroundings? I would be happy to suggest some places to visit. It's designated as an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and is about 12 mies north east of York. Castle Howard is the best known location around here.
@automaticslim How weird is that? I've been at a lunch today in aid of Cancer Research at - guess where - the Talbot Hotel!!! I well remember it in its former glory (NOT!) when we used to go there for staff do's at Christmas. Now it's beautifully restored and quite grand, we also had a very tasty lunch. Let me know if you do decide to come through to Malton and we perhaps can arrange to meet up for a photo shoot.
@if1 Hi Ian. I'd not come across your pictures so am really glad to find you thro this thread, which is what it was all about for me. I've enjoyed looking through your photos, especially those of York. It's a glorious city and I never tire of learning about the history and architecture. I've lived near York, in Malton and now in a Howardian Hills' village for 26 years and feel so lucky to have settled in this area. If you would like to see our locality or meet for a photo shoot in York let me know.
I'm glad that you enjoyed a look at my project - there's so much to capture in York, I'm almost spoilt for choice! You are very fortunate to live in the Howardian Hills - a very pretty and largely undiscovered landscape! Over the years I've done quite a lot of walking there. It would be interesting to do a photo shoot, and it would be good to get into the Howardian Hills again! However, I don't drive so would need to get to somewhere with public transport.
