HI folks. After many years of thinking about a 365 project I've finally taken the plunge. I'm working on developing a style for my main work, but wanted to spend a year putting up a picture a day of whatever I like best from my day's shoot. I'd love to hook up with others here as I want to be part of sharing pics, ideas, skills and learning. Happy New Year, John.
Hi - I started new today too; some of my pictures will be from my phone but I'm really going to be trying to get to grips with my 'proper' camera and learning a little about how to use it, as well as documenting a year of our lives.
Hope to get to know you all over the project
Eliza
I am new too. Mine will not be to thrilling as it will be phone pictures as well as camera pictures of my everyday life. Mostly pictures of my 3 year old I am sure. Good Luck to All with their Projects!
wow that's a great response! Looking forward to this year even more now! Just one thing, a few have sounded almost apologetic about 'just' using phones... I reckon that photography is all about the photographer, not what gear she/he has... someone once said, the best camera is the one you have in your hand! :)
I've followed all of you back, and already seen some inspiring photos! Going to look and comment more tomorrow. Looking forward to spending the year with you, so to speak :)
Hi John
I have just started (today) my own 365 day project and have posted my first image. Yes, I would be delighted to hook up and share ideas etc. Really like the the Strata photograph. Can't see the candle in the tomato image though, but the fruit looks lovely, - nice enough to eat!!
I am new to this and a novice photographer so starting this project with trepidation as much as excitement!! Here's hoping I can carry on and get to grips with learning how to use my camera. Will follow as I go along as likely to get confused with what I am doing !!!! ;-)
@staffsknott Hi Patricia. Thanks for the nice comments. The candle is the pool of light in upper right quadrant behind the tomatoes. Candlelight may have been a better description ;)
I have wanted to do this for ages and never been brave enough to do it. Anyway just about to upload my shot for today. I am following the topic per day for Jan 2013. I just hope I can manage to do a daily shot.
Hooray, there are more people like me ;)
Started today as well and loaded my first photo. I think this might do the trick of getting me out of my photography rut
2013 seems like a great year to start a new creative project - I'm on day two and excited to be here! It is cool to have so many of us starting together :)
Just before bedtime now, and I'm blown away by your response. Having so many followers/people I'm following gives me a real sense of commitment to doing the whole 365 :) night all...
New as of yesterday too - thought about it last year but didn't start on January 1 so decided to give it a miss. I have no aspirations regarding the quality of my photography, I just thought it was a great chance to find something each day that makes me happy to photograph it and share it. Good luck to everyone else too with what they are trying to achieve by doing this project :)
I love photography but don't do it as much as I'd like given I take my job far too seriously and I have 4 boys in need of lots of attention! This morning (2 Jan in Sydney Australia) I watched a televison story about taking a photo a day for the next year and at that point decided 2013 was my year to improve my photography and at the same time have some fun doing it. (Fortunately I had a photo from 1 Jan to allow me to do this over the calendar year ahead. Looking forward to this project and would be delighted to have some '365 Project friends'. I intend to follow all the newbies in this thread
First timer too. I made a personal goal to BE IN more pictures this year, so I'll try to be in all of them. Here's to 2013 and taking pictures everyday!!
I've been intrigued with the 365 project for a while now. Finally getting around to trying it out. Here's to a successful 2013 to all starting their 365!!
Hi John, seems like its going to be a creative year with so many people starting a 365 challenge on 1/1/13! I have a massive year coming up for travel so I've invested in a new camera and taken the challenge to!
Also started on the first, was going to do it last year but forgot. Ha! Not really trying to post the worlds best photographs, but its a big year and will be interesting to look back on the photos at the end... learning to take better photos is an added bonus
Hi everybody, welcome to this journey. Hope to see you all along this year. I plan to keep shooting as well! As you did, i started on january 2012. Finishing my project today (it's already finished i just did not upload the rest.)
Anyway, i hope you enjoy 365 project. Folks here are genius and very inspired and inspiring people.
Thanks for all your replies :) lovely to see when I was starting my day and now having coffee... I'm fascinated by people's different motivations and aspirations. Really looking forward to sharing the journey with you all, and great to hear from those of you for whom this is not a new journey! I have followed back those who've followed me, 94 so far, wow! Just taken today's shot. Hope you enjoy the intended humour...
I've just joined and this is my first day, nothing to lose. I don't know what to do or how so I'm looking forward to the journey. I'm expecting this year to be a big year for me so I'd really like to keep perspective and keep focusing on the small stuff so that I don't get gobbled up by the big stuff. Good luck to everyone I'll be browsing for inspiration and motivation.
Hi! This is my first try at project 365 as well - I heard about it last year, but I didn't quite have the confidence to give it a go. I'm hoping to improve everything about my photography really, and be inspired by people from around the world. Good luck with it!
I received my camera last Christmas. Haven't used it like I should. I hope doing the 365 challenge will help me learn the camera and how to create fabulous shots like I see on this site. However, this site is very intimidating! Seems like mostly professional photographers. Hopefully you all will welcome a true newbie.
Hi. welcome to all the newcomers and all of you guys starting your second or third year. I'm going into my forth year and must say that I enjoy this community very much. I invite you to browse my albums. new followers are always appreciated and reciprocated. let's enjoy this together.
Welcome to 365, John! You've gotten a huge response here. . .and I'd just like to invite you to take a look at the discussion threads - one in particular is "Your Favorite Fav of Someone Else" which I've been hosting. This discussion starts anew every Friday and is a wonderful place to see some of the best 365 has to offer! Good luck with your project!
@bakpoarch hi Sandra. Don't be intimidated (though I think many of us are when first starting out!) Just take pictures you like, learn as you go, and have fun :) I hope the day I stop learning and improving never comes...
@medusa Hi Diana. This isn't so much a list with a closing date as (it seems) a 'meeting point' for newbies and other interested 365'ers. Enjoy the year :)
Welcome to all of you - I've just taken my 200th shot for the site and I can't see myself leaving in any hurry - Do enjoy yourselves - that is the most important thing!
@bakpoarch - Sandra Hi - Please don't be intimidated by us - many of us are rank amateurs ( I certainly am!) - The professional and the highly experienced amateurs are a fabulous asset to the rest of us - Most people are happy to answer questions and advise on all sorts of technical issues. BTW Love your duvet set! and I am following you
I'm also new on 365, I started to document the year through my photographs. This website seems to be our lives through a lens! I love it:)
I hope that this will help me develop my photography and motivate me to stick at it!
Hi John, I too am committing myself to this project. I have a DSLR and all the lenses, but have also bought a little compact camera and my resolution this year is to always have it with me. It shouldn't be too difficult seeing as its smaller than my mobile phone. I have been into the Camera club scene for four years but have been struggling with inspiration for my images. So this year I thought I'd change tact a little.
Hi, my first attempt at this project myself.Been lazy with my cameras but this is going to get me to start getting active and creative.First couple of shots are macro which i enjoy, but restrictive due to time around work.Would welcome encouragement from others and would like to interact with othersds on the site.Good luck with your project and to all the others with theirs.
Hi everyone! This is my first 365 project. I have been doing a photo a day challenge on Facebook and Instagram and now I'm here. Most of my photos are taken with my phone and just for fun. Looking forward to being inspired by all of you.
Hi this is my first go at 365. I have been in the doldrums with my togging in the last year and needed some motivation. So fingers crossed that this gives me the inspiration I need!!
@topcat I do wonder about how I'm going to fit this around my full time job. But I'm looking forward to inspiration from you guys. Good luck with your project!
Welcome! I am just starting Year 2 and I tell you what, this project is wonderful for your photography and the community, if you get involved with threads and comments are WONDERFUL!!!
Hey folks, I'm new to the project too! Learning the ropes. I'm working for the University of Tennessee, earning my Master's degree. I'm always working with cattle, finding an excuse to leave the office, and love to talk food and farming.
Help.......... I am so discouraged! I was posting right along on my followers photos and I got a 5 minute spam blockout from the website! How discouraging.......... has anyone had that happen before??
I just finished my first 365 year and I have to say that while it can be grueling (not for sissies:), it is definitely rewarding and enriching. Things didn't begin to gel for me until July....so, good luck!
Hi John, Like you I am just beginning my first attempt at a 365 project. Having been on Flickr for a while I know I am a regular snapper and enjoy the sharing of pics and learn a lot from others. Good luck and I look forward to viewing your pics.
this is my first attempt at anything like this! I mainly take photographs of my daughter so I am going to try to get involved in projects or themes that take me outside of that comfort area! Looking forward to meeting people and expanding my photography horizons!
Hi John! I am new to this completely...I have seen others do different challenges however. I decided to take this on this year with the hopes of learning a lot more about my camera and style...and I am very excited to have a piece of every single day from this year to look back on...fingers crossed I stay encouraged with it!!!
Hi John I'm new at this too and think this will be fantastic to help build my portfolio and improve my skills. Looking forward to taking photos of more then just my kids too :)
It's my first run at this too! Im trying this to figure out my style. I love photography, but I'm not quite sure of the story I want to tell with my photos. Im starting with a 30 photo challenge and taking it from there. Best of luck to all!!
This is my 3rd attempt, lol. I am going to at least make it to July this time around. I don't have a fancy schmancy camera but it does take pictures and I like them, I hope others do too. Feel free to follow me if you want to.
I am new here as well been togging for a while and need a kick up the rear to get out there and take shots most of the time :( So i am hoping that doing this project it will be just that kick up the rear i need. I am also looking for more isnperation than my usual magazines route. Anyway feel free to follow me if you wish :) @salemslot
Paul.
@godbreathed This sometimes (tho hardly ever) happens when you make lots of comments in a short space of time. Don't be discouraged, it is a small price to pay for being a member of this site as I am sure you will discover
I am also doing this for the first time. Am a wife, mum and full-time primary teacher but really want to try to make the time to do this for myself (and my photography skills - which I hope to develop!!!!!)
Hi John, this is also my first attempt at a 365 project which I started in November - lost concentration as Christmas approached but have re-ignited my fire for the New Year. Welcome and look forward to seeing your images/
@johnnybyflash - Welcome John! I was in your shoes at this time last year. You have come to the right place to be inspired and to develop your photography skills!
looks like a lot of new folk (including me) - right now I'm just taking photos of my everyday- I read the 365 day book- the skull project & it inspired me to seek a 365 day project- right now a photo a day I think is the best I can do- it can always grow from there :)
Welcome and I'm also new here this year! I've always wanted to give it a try and since I've been wanting to learn a lot more about my camera and just enjoy photography I figured this would be a good place!
Hi, i've followed. Looking forward to sharing my 365 journey with people. would appreciate all follows to help keep me adding photos (to easy to give up) ... thanks all....
Feel free to follow me if you like. I am no professional, my photos will be SO amateur, BUT I am chronicalling (sp?) our first full year as a married couple together (we got married only 3 weeks ago!). Looking forward to seeing your photos over the next year :)
@johnnybyflash oops, see message above, you will no doubt be horrified at the quality of my photos, haha! But like I say, feel free to follow if you like :D
@firstyearofourmarriage Hi Toni. Congrats on your marriage and what a great way to record your first year. This project means different things to different people, so just enjoy yourself and I look fwd to seeing your pics :)
Hi John, welcome to 365! Don't know if I'm the best one to welcome you, I've only been here 3 days myself haha, but I'm glad I'm not the only amateur looking for feedback from other members. Hopefully we'll all get great things out of our projects!
Greetings! I have just started using the 365 Project. Love photography and snooping around Historic places here in PA with my Pentax K100D DSLR camera. Don't think that I can post a Image everyday, but we'll see. See where I go with my camera.
Hope to get to know you all over the project
Eliza
I'm new to the project today so will follow you and hope to have some followers too...
Thanks!

I'm also new here, I've attempted the 365 Challenge several times but never managed to stick at it!
