Newbie, HI all. AVS image editor deletes cam details?

January 6th, 2013
Hi everyone, I am looking forward to participating in this project, learning new skills and seeing your photos! This is a fab idea, wish I'd known about this sooner but at least I'm here now, yay :)

I am using AVS Image editor to watermark my photos. It's the only reason I got it. However, since using it and reloading all the photos with the new watermark I've noticed it now doesnt show my camera type, the actual date/time of photo, or technical info on the right side of my page.

Does anyone know how I can make AVS not interfer with that info, it certainly shows when I upload and I don't use AVS but then I dont have a watermark??

Thanks

Welcome to 365 Jodee! Some programs allow you to migrate the exif with the image, but I am not very familiar with AVS Image Editor; but I'm sure someone on this site will be able to get you a straight answer!

Have just had a look through your album, you have some great shots. I don't know about the technical side of your question, but personally find the watermark a bit distracting to the beauty of the photos.
I'm sure there will be someone here who uses that program, and may be able to help.

Do you really need a water mark? They achieve nothing other than to ruin an image, people want to look at photo's not someone's name. They can be cloned out in seconds so provide no protection if that's your reasoning.

I've used AVS programmes for editing video and compiling photo CDs, but not for still shots as such. In my experience the video editor is a bit unpredictable - sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't, with no fathomable reason. Anyway, I'm guessing (as @grizzlyghost hints) that it doesn't import the EXIF data, so this is then absent when you upload to this site.

And, for what it's worth, I find watermarks very distracting, too...

@jodeewatts Hello
I use this software sometimes: TSR Watermark, its free and has the option to preserves EXIF info.

I agree watermarks can be distracting

Thanks all, I agree to about the watermark being distracting, didnt really want it on there but I thought thats what you are meant to do being a newbie! Your feedback is so greatly appreciated. :) @janettee @peadar @jase_h @onie @grizzlysghost

@jodeewatts you certainly do not have to have a watermark and I agree with the others above that they are not necessary and very distracting. I notice that you aren't following anyone yet, when you do you'll find very few people use watermarks.
