The Fountain of Tears

October 7th, 2010
I am involved in a project about a fascinating sculpture in Israel called The Fountain of Tears. The sculptor is incredibly talented and the sculpture is amazing and very moving. The producer shot all the footage in Israel, and I've edited it down to a 30-minute program. It's not entirely finished...I'm not sure when it will be, but I wanted to give my 365 friends an opportunity to view it before I finish my 365 project and disappear.

You can view it on the producer's blog here: http://fountainoftearsdocumentary.com , or I have a higher quality version of it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1123459/The%20Fountain%20of%20Tears.mov , and here is a version I formatted to carry on my iPhone: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1123459/The%20Fountain%20Of%20Tears%20.m4v

I hope you find it interesting and inspiring.

My versions on dropbox are under 250 mb each and are probably better viewed by right-clicking and downloading them first, unless you have a robust internet connection.

Very interesting how the creation takes on a life of it's own. My pictures often are doing that. Sometimes I feel I have no idea on which direction to go. That's when it takes over. Very interesting discovery of the creative process on this project. What part are doing on this?

@dmortega - I'm the editor on the project, and the producer was kind enough to give me a co-producer credit.

@bradsworld --- Congratulations!

The video on the producer's blog started over before it finished. I had the screen minimized and realized I was hearing a repeat. I may check out the other links. What I saw and heard was really interesting.

@dmortega - Thank you. Besides being a bit higher quality, the other links won't have text from the Flash player over top of video image.

What a passionate artist and powerful monument! It was thoroughly moving to watch and I was completely engrossed when it suddenly came to an end! I can't imagine a better description of this panel than through the eloquant words of the artist...you've done a marvelous piece of work in your editing. Your interests and aptitudes seem so diverse, but I know this had to be absorbing for you. Thank you for letting me know you'd put this here as it was my first stop this evening and so worthwhile!

Very nice job with the edited film (dropbox), Brad. His sculptures are very emotive and it was interesting to hear him speak about his journey. Where does the film go from here (when you're done)?

Ah, okay--checked out the Producer's Blog. Thanks for giving us a preview of the film/what you do! (:
