Ok 365ers, The last couple of days from 2010 are slowly slipping away, what has (in your own opinion) been your best shot from 2010 .. lets all have another look, we might have missed it first time around. Not easy i know, but what else are you going to do whilst you wait to welcome in the new year .. ((o; apart from party, get merry, etc etc etc ... check your calender look back and share again your best effort.
i will start us all going, with what i think was my best effort .. its not been easy to pick one, i have a few favs .. but this one surprised me at how well it turned out.
I only have few pictures uploaded for 2010... Although this one seems a bit ordinary but this photo thought me how to practice using my macro lens... It took me a bit of imagination, creativity and although not a perfect for the rule of thirds... I did practice the rule of thirds when I was taking loads of photo to come out to this one.
not sure what my best shot is...but this man has moved me deeply...so i had to pick Arthur....he is sooo crazy, but there is just something about him....
Great thread Steve, you're right far too many to choose from. I choose this one as its my most creative. Not the one with most views, but up there according to my stats but something original.
so hard to pick just one from the whole year, and I'm not sure how to post a picture in a reply just yet (joined last night) I jsut wanted to say that I love the photos that are posted so far!
This one for several reasons:
- It was part of my Awesome Vans series (tagged awesome-vans) which was a fun part of the year as it just sort of came about during the project.
- It was taken on an iphone, but still came out okay.
- It kindof captures the whole Street Photography thing I have learned alot about and become interested in since starting the 365 project.
- The white graffiti circle forms a halo over the passer-bys head.
I think it's this one. At least that is what my stats tell me. There are a lot of pictures I am proud of for 2010 though (like my most recent snow flake picture, I really want to marry, and also I managed to catch bees in flight and photographed a dragonfly for the first time). There was another snow flake picture (which I didn't post), that I also took that day, that I also love A LOT. Aaaaaaah, such a hard decision! ;) Happy posting everyone, and a fantastic year to you and yours!
This is not my most popular but I feel this is my best. Pet photography is not always easy and I did very little editing to this photo. I feel like it came out perfect, which hardly ever happens.
First, let me say, I can see how much my eye has improved with the daily challenge to find a shot ... I chose this one:
for several reasons (some personal), but it was a challenge because it required quite a bit of processing due to the natural lighting.
beside your photo there is an html copy and paste share code. Just copy & paste in the reply box and voila your pick will come up when you hit post reply. And welcome to 365 :o)
This is really hard!
So- right now, I am going to say this one because I had forgotten about it until going back through my project just now. But, if I had to pick again tomorrow... it would probably be a totally different picture.
I really liked this floral photo. This is the blossom of the Prickly Pear cactus. I did not notice when taking the shot that the petals translucent. This gives the flower a very delicate look.
Honestly, I like one of my high school kids better now but I am choosing this one because 365 chose it, too. Plus, my mom had it framed for me for Christmas. It is a really nice gift.
This isnt the most exicting photo, but it is very expressive, techinical, and intriguing plus it is a fan favorite so I would say the one I named "The Road To The Wild Blue Yonder" is my best of 2010
I've only been here for 33 days but I really like how this one turned out. I have to give most of the credit to Lake Michigan and the boy on the right for turning to the side at the right moment so I could get the profile of his face
This I think would have to be one of my favorites from my 365 in 2010
I know it's not overly amazing, but it was one of those moments where you're worried you'll miss the shot since you have the wrong lens, but somehow, amazingly enough you manage to capture it!
Yep, that's my husband (he'll not be overly happy about my linking this image again :D) and yes, that's his phone in his hand. Very rarely is it out of his hands.
Not only was my camera able to focus (I had my 100-300 on to get the wombat at the far end of the enclosure and it's just the cheaper canon one and not able to do close focus) but, amazingly the sun came out just then!
I think this is kinda cheating, but when I look back at 2010, the one day I click on and view with my son is always this - my one and only YouTube post. He always gets a kick out of it. I'm now a year behind so may have to make a sequel :). Happy New Year everyone!
I have a lot of favorites... and it was hard to choose - but this is the most eye-catching of my faves... and it has my children in it, so I have to go with this one :)
Runners up were a couple of my horse pics, two little sisters, a B&W of 'three buses', little girl with Shea fruits and maybe the Camel, the load carrier and a beautiful Guatemalan woman, but this photo, pulled out of my 'I might throw' file, is my favourite:
It is so hard to pick and I know there are others that other people would pick. I know this is not my most popular but I have to pick this one. It was so lucky to find and it came out perfectly! SOOC:
The picture I love the most from last year ( the first year I try to learn photography) is not here. From the ones I uploaded in my project I chose this one. Not in the best quality but I love it and I think it best represents my interest in taking picture of people and of everyday scenes and happenings.
Steve thank you what a great idea! This is an opportunity to discover lots of great pictures even though it is very hard to choose just one picture.
I love this one because it is ephemeral. Someone had placed flowers in the hands of the statue and that's what makes it exceptional. The same without that touch of pink and green would not have the same interest. I like those pictures where you can say "the right place at the right time ... with a camera"!
WOW this was harder than i thought it would be ... i wanted to pick my gorilla's at the zoo photo, BUT when i view my calendar, i'm always drawn to this photo, it would be a fave if it was in someone else's album for sure, so i figure this is it ... its so dark, and i like that ;)
i know the thread says 2010 (this picture was taken 2009), but it had been sitting in my hard drive for a while thinking that it's a ho-hum pic, but i edited and uploaded it this year and received the most intensive editing, hence it's my choice. :D
I have many photos sitting on my hard drive, but since I've just started this project, this one has to be my favorite of the ones I've posted. This was a total serendipitous moment. I'd been hiking along, looking for a flower similar to this one, hoping I could get a decent shot of it, when the entire setting just opened up for me.
I just knew this would be a great thread.. thanks everyone for sharing these superb images one more time, I have enjoyed looking at them all & I will revisit them again over the next few days..
Can I also wish each & everyone a very happy new year .. I truly hope 2011 is better than ever 'for all of us' .. Cheers people
It is almost impossible, isn't it, to chose one and one only of my photos from 2010. After a lot of back and forth I and up with this one, my daughter holding the bridge in Mostar, Bosnia
It was hard to pick just one shot! So many memories from the past year. I have to pick this shot of my dog Turbo. It was being the right place and just happening to get the right timing. :)
Sooooo hard to choose just one!! But I really love this picture.....I didn't start at the beginning of the year, so I still have many months to go before my whole project is complete! :D
Wow, there are so many gorgeous photos in this thread! What a talented group we have here, and what a fun idea! This was such a hard decision because there were so many images I could have made an argument for, all for different reasons. But I think this one wins out for the combination of luck, timing and even a little skill that was required to get the shot.
@steveh Ok, just started 365 yesterday, so be patient, I'm NEW! I live on the plains of Colorado and when storm clouds form, I rush home and hike to my favorite places in hopes of catching great clouds. This one was a 'doozy'! I had to walk back (with my poor daughter) - in hail and then POURING cold rain. But it was worth it to me! Hope you like it!
Ok, I've been debating on whether or not to post here, but today I finally decided I should. Here is what I think is my best picture of 2010. Not my favorite from my project, but I think overall it's my best executed photo.
This is my favorite for 2010. I was so excited when I loaded the shots on my computer, and found that the water drop had captured the entire pattern of the wrapping paper I had put behind the sink.
@petersonsheri how in the heck is this done? As a science teacher and nature lover, I adore all these water shots I see on 365. Can you lend me some ideas of the equipment I need?
@bks Hi Brooke. I watched this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwExpFDUC9Y that someone on 365 had recommended in one of the discussions. It helped a lot! The way I set up this specific shot was this: I put a cereal bowl upside down in the sink with a clear water glass upside down on top of it. I taped wrapping paper with a pattern from the bottom of my sink to a ways up the wall. Then I turned the water on really slow so it was splashing on the glass bottom. There is a setting on my camera that is considered a sports setting that has a very fast shutter speed that I used, and pretty much shot away. I tried it with the tripod first, but I couldn't get down at the angle I wanted, so I shot with the camera in my hands. I think I took about eighty pictures, and about six turned out really cool! Give it a try, and let me know how it turns out. Light is your friend on this one.
I have only just joined, and only just got my DSLR a couple of weeks before Christmas..... This is one of my favourite shots that I got before Christmas.... just love how vivid the image in and how softened the background is
So, I know I am a little late to this one, but I would have to fisrt, agree with many others here that it is SO hard to choose just one photo from the year. Second, I guess since, to date, this is the only photo we have printed to canvas and hung in our home this will be my choice for 2010:
It's of my ex-boyfriend, so a bit of a sore subject, but there is something about it i really like, and i think it catches the mood we were in that day.
@appaloosa05 really?? I believe there is a practically identical church outside the Marriott in downtown Minnie - I'll check my Flickr account and post a link.
So hard to choose just one! I think that this one is my favorite. It's of some fire dancers that came to perform at the summer camp I worked at. I couldn't have gotten this exact shot intentionally! Definitely love it though!
(at least thus far) :P
this one for me i think - taken on a train with very subtle processing
I had a hard time..liked so many in my ace album Sunrise/sunset but finally decided on this one.
Tough to pick, but I really like this one. I got it blown up on canvas for my parents for Christmas and they love it.
...I`m still new.Joined in october. And it`s impossible to chose one favorite.I have at least 5 I love. Oh,well, here`s my firs "big hit" :
Taken September 18, 2010 (the day before my birthday)

Because it was the first hummingbird I ever saw!
I like that it reminds me of the early morning, and I like that I *accidentally* caught the bee. :-)
So- right now, I am going to say this one because I had forgotten about it until going back through my project just now. But, if I had to pick again tomorrow... it would probably be a totally different picture.
hmm.. for some reason am not able to view the larger size for posting here
Lovely work, everyone! Really really gorgeous stuff!

Probably this one for right place, right time, right settings :D
Can I also wish each & everyone a very happy new year .. I truly hope 2011 is better than ever 'for all of us' .. Cheers people
very hard to choose, great thread, really enjoyed looking at everyone's choices...
This is the picture I'm most proud of :)
This has to be my fav and my best of this year...
an iphone pic, from before i started this project (obviously, since I started yesterday)
http://365project.org/sytse/365/2010-04-11
Taken before it got too cold to be taking these kinds of photos late at night
was hard to choose.. but this one isn't my most popular or most faved.. just my favorite!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lissaj/5227594377/
this one most definitely! ^_^
http://jenniferjamesphotography.zenfolio.com/addison
so many to choose from but today this has to be my fav :)
This was tricky decision to make. In the end though, I can't resist a loving photo of one of my beautiful boys.... so close to my heart!
Probs this one just because of the chances of getting this photo without using Photoshop was awesome to me :) And I love butterflies hehe
This is my mum and step father. We were on a walk in late summer. What a beautiful day that was.
ILL HAVE THIS AS MY BEST PIC FOR 2010! ^___^
This shot was not my most viewed or fav'd but I am happy for it to be my 2010 pick!

Taken during my trip to this beautiful island in Mindoro, Philippines :)
I think this is my best
