I am always surprised and honored when one of my shots makes it to the PP. I thought this one had a chance with 5 favs and 130 views, and it is one of my favorites.
Oh how beautiful all of these photos are! Can't believe they weren't all on the PP! Sometimes, I think we should have different categories. Thank you all for these wonderful photos and a chance to see them!
This had 21 fav's and never made it to the PP! I really don't mind as I've had many pics on there though... It just shows that fav's have nothing to do with it!!
Now that I see what else is out there that isn't being recognized, I will stop whining. Here are some ideas I would like to ses just to give more people the fun of being singled out:
Rename this page "pictures in the spotlight" rather than suggesting they are actually more popular than any others.
Rotate them more often to give more images a chance in the spotlight.
Have the monkeys pick a certain number each day at random to become popular. With the exposure they will inevitably get more views and favs.
Add to the algorithm a limit to the number of pictures from an account in a month.
for me I'd say this one with 190 views and 6 faves. I thought those were pretty good numbers, but then I've never understood the monkey's way of doing things. ;) lol
I thought this one had a chance, had 10 fav's. I used my cheap macro lens and used my finger to cut some of the flash off so it looked like red on the bottom and white on the top. I will say though, there are so many more perfect and/or better photos than this, I just thought it had a chance.
I have to say that many of the photos here far outshine most of the ones I just viewed on the PP. Btw, how does one know when hers makes the page? Not that I expect any of my mediocre shots to make it, but I rarely even look at it.
Some awesome shots on here, I'd much prefer to read this thread than look at the PP. I was really happy with these shots of mine but no fav's mind you so not a chance at the PP!!

First off, let me say I am not complaining as I have been lucky enough to make the PP on more than one occasion where many have not. I was really surprised that this shot with 16 fav's didn't make it though.
There are some beautiful captures on this thread!! Here is mine...but it is personal. I loved the sparkles coming around my son as he touched the water. So sweet. But, I was the only one who thought so...which is okay with me. :)
After I took this I thought it could have a chance at the popular page. It had a fairly good response (for me!) but the mysterious magic monkeys passed it up
portraits aren't usually chosen by the magic monkeys (unless it's of children), but i think street/stranger/portrait photography are well worth the monkey's attention:
I've never gotten on the popular page, it makes me a little sad at times. I personally think they don't like confronting images. Most of mine are either nude or dripping with blood ha. But i wish this one would have made it...
I' m glad it"s not just me who doesn't understand how the monkeys work the PP and new faces - much as I appreciate Socks, surely he can't still be a new face?

@allie912 I completely agree with you... it would be nice to have categories and at least one randomly chosen shot. CHanging the name would certainly be kinder, as well. The monkeys have never chosen one of my photos~ I do not post often and do not comment as much as I would like... but mostly it is just because I I only do POS w/ my crappy camera and mainly take photos of my beautiful boys.

@csimmons LOL! Well I suggest you avoid most of the October shots because I am doing 31 days of Halloween and some shots are quite scary and gross. Yesterday's shot and the day before are ok. Yesterday I did a scene from Frankenstien out of legos! LOL!
SO HAPPY. The picture I posted on here the other day has made it onto the PP. It's my first time there. So pleased, I had to share. Thanks to anyone from this feed that visited.

i agree with limiting the number of photos from one account - not being funny but i'm sick of socks the kitten at the moment
