Do you give framed photos as gifts?

December 1st, 2011
This year I decided to give my sons' teachers framed prints of some of my boys' fave shots that I have taken. Has anyone else done this? Did they like their gifts? I'm a wee bit nervous about it only because I have never given one of my shots to anyone who wasn't family before! LOL! I picked these shots:
This one is actually for my mother in law

The rest of these are for teachers and bus driver:

Yep, that's what everyone on my list is getting this year, seeing as I spent all my money on lenses, lol. Yours are going to make beautiful gifts!

And I *love* that ferris wheel shot!

I've a shed load of calenders to give to people! I feel a bit cheeky doing it, but they were cheap from vistaprint - who insist on giving me deals all the time lol - and I showed one to my friend who instantly wanted to buy one (guess what shes getting for Xmas). Its a brilliant idea giving framed prints, and those are wonderful shots. I'm sure they'll love em :)

@pwallis Thank you Paula! That is exactly why I am doing these because I just can't afford to spend any more money what with all the medical expenses we have had.

@looseimages Thank you Lucy! I thought about doing calendars but was concerned they wouldn't get delivered in time. Maybe I will do that next year though and order them early! LOL!

@positronicmommy I did calendars too, with portraits of my daughter, the turnaround time after ordering online was only a week - so I've already sent them off to England for the relatives:)

I think it is an entirely appropriate and thoughtful gift

Your photos are superb and would make a fabulous gift. I especially love the one of the butterfly. The detail and processing are magnificent!

I give at least one framed shot a year! Usually it's of the kids for a grandparent, but this year we've outdone ourselves. VERY cheese shots of my husband and his brother kind of reenacting a photo taken of them when they were kids. It's killing me that I can't post it....their Mum might see it if she checks my project!

Like Jenn, I've done this with my kid pictures for the grandparents or relatives. They liked it. I've never given landscapes, insects, etc. though. I'd love to, but I don't know how much it will be appreciated, given that different people have different opinions on pictures.

I made a calendar for my parents last year. They absolutely loved it!

@shutterbugger
Maybe you can post it after she's received it. You have my curiosity raised.

@shutterbugger Yes definitely post after she gets it cause I would LOVE to see it!

Nobody would want any of my photos as a gift.

I have given people albums I have played on as Christmas presents before, but I felt a bit tacky doing it... :/

@positronicmommy I have before but mostly just family. Did a whole book for my mom on my first year living in Australia, I think she showed it to her family once and lost it. Oh well.
Also did matching books for my younger sisters who were always really close to each other when the youngest graduated HS and headed off to uni.

These would be absolutely fabulous gifts! Wish I were your friend!! lol

@scatcat I agree. Although I LOVE some of my shots, who's to say someone else would want them hanging in their home. @webfoot @positronicmommy Well.....I wonder if she would see them if I hid them further back in another album? I bet she only looks at recent posts. Seeing as yesterday was the end of Movember, and we were taking advantage of the horrible 'stach's. Alright....I'll do it. (that didn't take to much convincing did it!)

@buttercup @cookie123 @shutterbugger Thank you! I figure even if they do not like the shot the frames I picked are nice and they can always switch it out for something they have.

Those are beautiful! Especially the butterfly one!! :)

I will be framing and giving a photo of mine as a gift - for the first time - to my Auntie for a Christmas present. A 60cm x 40cm print of this:

I was excited choosing the colours/types of framing materials, and can't wait to see it (in 5 working days xD)!

I had my son's Cub Scout den take pictures to earn their Photography belt loop. I then had them pick their 3 best pictures and I showed them how to matt them and glue them to foam board. I made sure they understood that these make great gifts. Plus my son took some awesome photos and I need to make some more prints.

@positronicmommy I have given some of my photos as gifts. I usaually put a mat around them and then allow them to pick out their own frame
