I don't have any stop the car photos, bu I have a "stop the boat" While I was vacationing in July, I was on a pontoon boat and saw these guys. The boat owner was more than happy to stop and let me get some really neat shots.
Lucklily for me, I was stopped at a light when I saw the photographer on the wall. By the time I got my camera out, this man got in my shot and added so much more to it! Love those happy accidents! :-)
I wanted to stop the car 3 or 4 times in the space of 10 minutes before I found a safe place - missed some stunning fog shots but was pretty happy with this as a second best!
When we were in California, I had a lot of "Stop the Car" moments since everything was so beautiful! Saw this lighthouse while driving the Pacific Coast Highway.
I just had to post this shot from this past summer for the "Stop the Car" discussion. I saw some alpaca grazing while cruising the back roads showing my friend the sights of my childhood. Both Suzanne and I were enchanted with this furry, funny looking guy, I've stopped to visit him every time I've been up home since.
I was on a country road with hills and curves, and literally shaking when I took this. I loved the story it told me. There was no shoulder to pull off onto, and oncoming traffic's vision was not good, so I stopped in the middle of the road, opened the window of the passenger side, snapped it quick (with my seat belt still on!), and then took off.
working in downtown Seattle affords me a lot of opportunities to see performance art and political demonstrations.....this guy was just walking down the street during rush hour one day and it put a huge smile on my face......
This sunset! and, that I'd been looking for a photo op where I could be high up and shoot down on something to do a tiltshift with tiltshiftmaker.com.....thought it came out neat.
My cell phone was on my lap when I told my hubby to stop the car so I could get this shot. I jumped out so quickly that the phone fell out of the car without me noticing. I went back the following day to look for it (an hour's drive from home) and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it lying on the ground, right where I thought I'd lost it!
I have been waiting to be a passenger to I could reach @viranod awesomeness, but alas, I finally had my iphone slow shutter on, no one on the highway with me and a lit tunnel at night. Turned out a bit yellow and abstract, but that is all the more better. And well I guess this technically is not a stop the car moment, but since I walk to work and social, I rarely have them.
Just last week. But I couldn't stop in time for the most beautiful colors. Fortunately the next safe spot to pull over was the cemetery and I was able to grab this sunrise before zipping off to work.
In my case it was STOP THE MOTORBIKE! I drove my little motorbike from Nha Trang to Da Lat in Vietnam. It was a long way through the mountains and we had to make it before nightfall, but the views were incredible and I had to stop a couple of times. My camera was broken at this point but I was able to sneak some iPhone shots from Dan
@geocacheking I'm glad you stopped where you did! It's as if the statue is turning away or running away from the approaching light. There's a story in that.
As we came out of the French side of the Mount Blanc tunnel I saw these clouds which made it look like the sky was rippling.
I made my husband pull over so I could get a couple of photos. we then got some stern looks from the French Police so decided to drive on and not push our luck
@shadesofgrey At first I thought your photo was one of the 17 or so times I-90 crosses over the Clark Fork River, but quickly noticed it was an older, more "local-looking" bridges. :)
Not exactly a beautiful pic, but it cracked me up to see that someone had put a little jacket on one of the caution cones by this steampipe in downtown Akron. At first glance, for a split second, I thought it was a small child all by himself much too close to the road... then reality struck, and I just had to turn around and go back for the photo!
@asf in your album on the picture you want to upload, look in the right side panel. You'll see an item called Share. Copy the code from there into this thread.
My mum spotted this along a narrow country lane for the machinery theme and I just about managed to find a spot to squeeze the car on the side.
This one is a serious stop the car moment, on the way back from a destination wedding in Austin.
I saw this the day after my aunt, an amazing artist, passed away from a long battle with MS.
This one I didn't actually stop the car....lol
and then this one. an amazing sunset.

I also took this out the window at a stop light.
My most recent...
and one where we stopped the car, and also used it....

Or... taken while driving...
funny!

I spotted this as I was heading back down the hill after the eclipse earlier this week.
This discussion inspired this picture!! I definitely did it today without any fear :)
