Artist Challenge: Tamara de Lempicka

First off, I want to express my gratitude to all who voted for my entry in the Jay Maisel artist challenge. I was overwhelmed by the love and support shown for "Colorful Urinal" When I originally spotted the red hydrant in front of the blue wall, I definitely saw an artistic shot, but I never anticipated I had a shot at being a finalist, let alone the winner, of the artist challenge.... so again THANK YOU!



For the new challenge, I've chosen Polish Art Deco painter, Tamara de Lempicka. I have always loved art deco and have often thought I was born in the wrong decade. :)

As usual, you may choose to recreate one of Lempicka's paintings, or create something of your own that is inspired by her style. Entries must be dated between June 28 and July 8, and you may submit as many entries as you wish.

This challenge starts now and will end midnight PST on Sunday, July 8. Tag your entries ac-lempicka. This should be a fun artist challenge. She did not only do portraits, so be sure to browse her complete works for inspiration.

****EDIT: Since the contest will end while I'm asleep, any entry that is in before I get home and can get on 365 will count, which will be approximately 8:00PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time (or "New York" Time) July 9th

Congratulations Jeff, you had my vote all the way, its a great photo. Lempicka should be interesting, I can imagine some fabulous selfies coming up : D

@lorraineb thank you! I've always loved her work, and since she did do more than just portraits, people that like to shoot flowers and cityscapes can join in too (and people that like still life photos, etc). I can't wait to see some of what people come up with!

@jsw0109 Thanks. I googled the artist and will TRY to participate...It appears that she pretty much did/does art deco type portraits? That may make it hard for the likes of me. But I will keep it in mind... I am going to Savannah for the weekend..maybe I can get someone to pose. :0)
