Mad Minute - Mulligrubs

June 18th, 2013
The idea of Mad Minute Words is we present a strange (and/or lovely) word to you, and you draw from it as inspiration for your photo... to keep it acceptably mad, we're doing two words a week, one presented on Monday and another on Friday.

Your photo for today's word (Monday) should be posted on Wednesday, June 19th
The word I have chosen for you is:

mulligrubs \MUHL-i-gruhbz\ , noun:
Ill temper; colic; grumpiness.

"That's a comfortable place to be." The barber chuckled. "You're a philosopher, sir, a philosopher."
"I am, but I'm a blue one. I have the blue mulligrubs."
-- Brian Lynch, The Winter of Sorrow

There's a children's daycare centre near me named Mulligrubs....doesn't bode well for them lol. Cool word!
June 18th, 2013
@kazlamont haha, excellent. I have been told 2 stories of women thinking of names for their unborn children. Both had heard words in a medical setting and thought they were names - malena and meconium. Both had to be discretely dissuaded!

Think my kids fit in perfectly to this word whenever i point a camera at them these days - should be an easy one!

June 18th, 2013
@kazlamont No way! That is not a good advertisement for the daycare! haha

@gwhit123 Glad it is going to be easy for some of you guys! Oh, since there is not a "you must take the photo on Wed' rule, yes, it is going to be easy for me too, now that I am thinking about it.

Fun! Growing up we always said mulligrumps specifically referring to upset stomach. The common usage is mostly in southern U.S. So mulligrubs etc is all new to me.
June 18th, 2013
@omabluebird Susan, when I looked up the word, they did have that as an alternate, and some other funny sounding alternates/synonyms also. I was going to pick one of those, but then it did just mean diarrhea or some yucky medical condition. So I avoided that one! Crisis averted!

Quoting MaryBeth @espyetta: " So I avoided that one! Crisis averted! " Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I was practicing low-key shots yesterday night with my flash and asked him to put a grumpy face. Here's what I got. He's such an actor. His dramatic expressions always makes me smile.

I know this might be too much of a formal entry for the mad minute word but I thought it fits the theme and it's wednesday! :-)

June 19th, 2013
@ikamera It's perfect! Love it! He is looking like he's been hit with a case of the mulligrubs.
June 19th, 2013
@mcsiegle Heck yeah, Mary! That is definitely showing a "mulligrub-inous" moment! Haha Good job!

Here is one of mine...
I don't suppose DEAD things can get the mulligrubs in real life...oh well.
Maybe the ants have the mulligrubs because that one at the bottom got the last piece of white meat.
