I was so pleased for the votes on my photograph for the Sarah Moon challenge. This is my first time hosting a theme or competition. I have to say I found it extremely difficult to select an artist, there are so many that inspire. I considered abstract for a challenge in seeing beyond the chaos, I considered old classics for a study in art history, and I even considered whimsical from Dr. Seuss!
In the end I wanted to select something that I thought would inspire something that translates well into photography. So I chose Grant Wood, famous for the American Gothic image. He has a grainy texture to his work, stark images of people, and farm life. He also has some amazing lithographs. (In truth, I also selected him because he's from Iowa, not too far from me in Illinois...he went to the Art Institute of Chicago and I'm living near there...and I've seen American Gothic at the Art Institute of Chicago several times...a little local shout out).
He's easy enough to google!
The challenge goes until April 1st. Can't wait to see all of the images.
@aat3877 Hi Ann, this is my first time hosting a challenge, so I'm no expert here either! The important part is to have the photo tagged ac-grantwood I think the only way you can do that is to have it uploaded either on your calendar or another album if you are an ace member.
