Choose a subject and try to see it in abstract form so that the subject is not easily recognisable. There are no restrictions on what to shoot. You might want to try a subject that you know very well or something quite new to you. You could choose a particular angle or close in on a part of it. You will need to consider factors such as what focal length and which exposure parameters would be best to realise your vision…
Please keep these things in mind:
1. As far as possible the actual object is not immediately recognisable.
2. Remember that this is all about seeing abstract before you shoot.
3. To really challenge your eye you might consider SOOC but this is not compulsory.
4. Post-production - edits such as colour saturation, contrast enhancements and black and white conversion are acceptable, but please do not apply any software filters that distort or significantly change the image in order to make it abstract. There are other challenges for that, e.g. ETSOOI.
5. The images should be taken within the time frame of the challenge.
6. You can enter as many images as you like.
7. As with other challenges the person who wins has the honour of hosting the next one.
The images you enter must be taken and uploaded between now and Sunday 8th July (the deadline is midnight in your time zone).
Soon afterwards I will choose finalists to be voted on. The winner gets the honour of hosting the next challenge!
Please tag your images: abstract-10
If you can, post your submissions on this thread to keep it visible and encourage more entries!
@ginaanderson How do I copy /upload to Abstract-10 direct other than reposting again and put in the tag. Ive already uploaded the image and my only way is to upload it again with another date - or can I go direct ? Its not clear to me how to do it except repeat the image with a new day date.
Hope you can advise.
@fr1da Hi, glad you are participating! If you click the little pencil icon beneath your image, you will be able to add the abstract-10 tag. No need to upload it again!
@ginaanderson Thanks Gina ! I have uploaded the abstract image which I first posted with the pencil icon beneath my image.First time Ive used the pencil icon so thank you! So now I have two different abstract -10 entries based on the glass containers ( different image frames and coloured glass objects .) But Im still unsure how to directly post to themes and competitions. Do I just drag across ? sorry for my silly questions ....
@fr1da not a silly question 😊 also under your photo is a little arrow icon. Click that and it gives you some code to copy and paste. If you paste it into this thread, when you post your reply it will magically show your photo!
Hope you can advise.
Hope that makes sense!
2 days left til the deadline for any more entries 😊
