CONGRATULATIONS Zambian Lass!

January 10th, 2024

Congratulations on winning this competition for photographing "Non-Domestic Animals Outside" (#21), and I'll now pass to you the honor of hosting NDAO-22! Thank you to those who voted, and to everyone who entered. There were excellent and varied photos and I tried to select images from far-flung corners of the world!

If you're not familiar with Zambian Lass @zambianlass , our winner, she has been a 365 photographer over many years, but also like many of us, has dropped away at times, only to return again! Her excellent photography from such an interesting part of this world, paired with informative commentary make her well-worth following! Thank you ZL for allowing me to encourage you to enter and be involved again (when you're not teaching, raising a family and running in marathons!)

Awwww thank you so much. What a lovely surprise. I’m sorry I stepped away for a week or two. Zambia is in midst of a cholera outbreak and it has forced schools to remain closed. It brings back all the memories of covid and I’ve been struggling to work full time and teach the kids online. Schools should have reopened on the 29th but the Government announced again today that they will push opening to the 12th of Feb now. Sob sob. So your message has really cheered me up. Thank you. What do I have to do now…

@zambianlass My sincere apologies for keeping you waiting so long! I was "chatty" with my post that I'll attach below, but you can open with little more than the basic information and with NDAO, the following number to mine. You might just run it for the month of February as we're almost there! At the end of the month, select 5-8 to feature for voting, let that run a week and announce the winner! I added the extras because you were a returnee and I wanted people to get to know you! (You can just copy/paste the basic parts of mine if you'd like) Good luck and tag me if you need more information than this! Congratulations, and I hope the Cholera has subsided!

@zambianlass @Weezilou
I just got a request in my Weekly SH*T list to look into this challenge.
I will reply to him that this is now in hand and he should see a new challenge up and running shortly.
Thank you - and we definitely understand that life happens!
And here is an explanation on how to run a challenge for those who are doing it for the first time!

@Weezilou
Louise - Zambianlass has not posted since the end of January.
Perhaps you should resurrect this challenge once again (though I would not start the challenge so far back - but if you do perhaps give it a closer closing date for those who have photos waiting in the wings and the challenge isn't really too long with a ton of photos to choose from)

@farmreporter Fair enough and a good idea! The last thing she wrote was that the area was fighting *Cholera*! That sounds like reason enough to draw back, and we all hope her family and friends are well! I'll begin a new round shortly, and I agree with your time-line assesment!
