Am always touched to see continued votives and candles lit. Whilst people light candles and votives all year round at Paimpont Abbey, the volume lit during the summer season is staggering. It's a joy and moving to go into church to close it and see this witness to faith.

@s4sayer You should then visit a little village in Chiapas, Mexico. The Church's floor is literally paved with lit candles, and only a narrow path allows to reach the altar and a few rows of seats in front of it, and side paths among the votives lead to the side chapels. Unfortunately strictly forbidden to photograph. I assisted to the crisis of a german tourist that risked to be beaten hard, and had to allow the film (yes it was film time) being stripped out of the camera and thrown away...
