9.07 Mantova - Piazza delle Erbe

It may happen, with a rangefinder camera with two viewfinders - one to frame and the other to focus - to look through the first and forget about the second... Yet, IMHO the atmosphere in this shot validly replaces the sharpness.
Leica III, Summar 5cm f:2 wide open
It gives a period feel to the image - shame about the table and chair in the foreground though :-((

Resti a Mantova anche domenica?

Soft and romantic is what I feel. The shallow DoF truly makes this magical. Fav.

@vignouse I know! And what about the paper towels holder? Hateful... but it's sooc...
@caterina Magari! No domani sono a Sperlonga e domenica a Latina... per la verità a Mantova sono stato a fine giugno per una sorta di anticipazione del festival che si chiama "aperitivo con l'autore"
@joysabin thank you so much, Joy: I'm humbled that you nicely define shallow DoF what's entirely out of focus...

Cool... I like the blur.

It does still look cool, like looking through your eyes after a few glasses of wine!

@domenicododaro Pity. We could have gone photo- exploring together!

@caterina yes, pity! Maybe some other time!

Sometimes something creative happens unexpectedly - and this is proof of that.

clarity and sharpness are overrated nowadays, as you say image is about the feeling, the atmosphere!

@wag864 I'm a big fan of chance! Or serendipity, if you like... Thank you!
@overalvandaan Thank you, Saxa, I do agree, actually - though, sometimes a nice sharp photo...

But I like it out of focus, it adds some mystery to the picture. For me this shot feels very French/Parisian.

@365street Thank you very much!

I have never shot with an uncoupled rangefinder. My faux pas come from metering my leica independently then forgetting to transfer the readings to the lens.....

@pickerandagrinner Yes, this is the challenge with this camera: I usually focus, then frame, then (as in this case) move myself some meters left, right, forward or backwards and then forget to focus again! This was with he lens wide open... Silly me.
