Thank you so much for all your kindness, and for bearing with the erratic posting I've been doing to catch up with holiday shots.
This is a Herringbone Cotoneaster, or Cotoneaster Horizontalis to give it its botanical name. I hope this photo conveys some sense of the Horizontalis because, once it grows upwards a bit and props itself against a wall, it does grow along as well as up. It's a semi-evergreen and those leaves will eventually turn red.
This one self-seeded in a redundant pot (with help from a bird, at a guess) at the front of our house.
