I took another load of shots (on manual) of the wasp nest remnant tonight. I tried some different lighting (a LED torch) to get rid of the yellowness that I'd previously eliminated through editing, but that didn't work, so then I went back to using the halogen lights and had a go at adjusting the white balance.
I've tilted the shot a little and cropped it a bit . I've also sharpened it a tad, but from what I've read about kit lenses, I think it's reasonable to have to do that when using one for close up work.
What I haven't done is render the shot b&w but the comb isn't pure white anyway. This is reasonably accurate in terms of colour.
It's been an intellectual exercise to try and show this comb as accurately as possible but the reason I chose it as a subject was because I think it's a beautiful example of what Nature can do and was very keen to share it with you.
Thank you for staying with me through the process, and viewing and commenting.
