Another ramble. Sorry, it must be the weather. :-)
I've been stuck in the house most of the day today waiting for a delivery driver to call and collect an item from me. I knew that I might have to wait nearly all day (isn't that always the way when they can't give you a time?) and that I might well be desperately trying to think of something to photograph. So when I came down for breakfast this morning and saw the sunlight shining on Fred here I was delighted.
Fred is a resin cast statuette. He stands - with his little base - 25" (63.5cm) tall and normally lives on the windowsill in the dining part of our living room. He's meant to look like an elephant tusk carving, hence the curve. I don't think plastic resin is environmentally friendly but it's vastly preferable to killing an elephant to make something like this.
I've had him for about 35 years and the poor chap's been decapitated once (you can see the break in his beard if you look closely) and he's also been cleaned with something that got stuck in a couple of nooks and crannies and had a disagreement with the resin (guilty).
My father bought him for me while on a visit to his sister in the north of England and lugged him all the way home by public transport. It was a very kind thing to do because it's a journey of about 300 miles, Dad was well into his 60s at the time and Fred weighs approx 11lb/5kg. But that was typical of my father's generosity of spirit.

Fred is a really interesting looking fellow ( I love how you named him). Your photo has him looking quite important - like he belongs in a museum. What a nice thoughts your father had as a gift.
Oh my, before I read your comments I thought he was a miniature....11 lbs of Fred...wow! Despite his decapitation, he is charming & definitely a keeper....a memory of your kind, thoughtful dad. Bless his heart.
It's great that you still love him because he was a super pressie from your Dad who obviously thought a lot of you to take all this trouble. Great capture and thanks for sharing him with us
