Probably better on large view for the detail if you have a moment.
This is one of the inside walls of the church of All Saints, the parish church of the village of Little Kimble, which is about 2 miles away from where I live.
The walls really do have that peculiar green tint to them in places, I don't know why.
I tried to straighten the image as much as possible but builders didn't build very straight in the 13th century!
Anyway, the amazing thing here is that those wall paintings were done in the 14th century, probably
the early part, so that makes them approximately 700 years old!
In those days the only literate people were the clergy, and churches were painted with scenes from the bible or, as here, stories of the saints (that's St.George on the right) so that the congregation could look at and learn from them. Sort of religious picture book really. It's fantastic to think that these have survived for so many centuries.
