Today is the day of the Winter Solstice in the Northern hemisphere, when daylight time is at its shortest. From now on the days will be getting longer. It's also the day of the pagan festival that marks the re-birth of the sun, so here's one of the Green Men who live in and around our house.
He's as straight as I can get him; the block he's part of is not square.

I don't know a lot about the tradition of the green man but what little I have read makes me want to find out more. Yours is a very handsome fellow! I'm really intrigued that they got built into churches and abbeys.
