One of those large view ones if you have a moment. Thank you.
Mention the IoW to anyone who's ever heard of the place and they'll almost certainly think of The Needles.
Mention the IoW to anyone who's ever been there and it's a safe bet they'll have taken at least one photo of this rock formation.
Google it and you'll find masses of shots of it. Yup, it's the feature on the island that all the tourists go for. So I took the ultimate IoW cliché shot. I don't care - I just loved the light and that sea fret, oh and the boat. I waited for the boat.

Yes I certainly have shots of these! I think the pov on this is superb, quite different. The b/w suits it and the light enhances the rock shape, boat is icing on the cake,
I've heard of this place for ages - but maybe the first time I noticed its picture. What a wonderful picture! You were right to wait for that boat - it does add quite a bit a perspective. The light is great. I'm so glad you posted this!
Excellent composition and the boat is the finishing touch.
I tend to think of Ryde and buckets and spades first of all, partly from childhood holidays - a more recent trip to the IoW showed that it had hardly changed at all....
@mercuria Thank you, Ariel. Yes, the IoW seems to exist in its own little time warp, I think that may well be the deciding factor in its attractiveness.
Thats a lovely shot. It works particularly well as a B&W. Nicely done. Actually I have been to the IOW and don't have a picture like this. However, I have been up the lighthouse and shown around by the lighthouse keepers when it was still manned (hmmm! 1977? Oh Gawd!).

I remember visiting Queen Victoria's house on the IOW, plus a lovely lighthouse, but can't recall the needles
