A bit of decorative stonework round a door of a church in Newbury, Berkshire. I think that's meant to be flowers above the leaves but I keep seeing a face.
Lester and I went out for the day today. We made for Portsmouth and got in the queue to pay for tickets to the dockyard but then realised it would be absolutely heaving, being the height of the holiday season, so we made our way to Stokes Bay for lunch and then on to Newbury for a wander. It's a pretty town with a nice mix of old and new architecture. Sadly, the church wasn't open - locked to prevent vandalism.

It's a shame that the churches have to be locked these days as there are usually nice things to capture such as stained glass windows, etc. Interesting stone work though
Such nice stonework - don't see that on the newer buildings. I see that face, too. And he is sticking his tongue out. It is a sad commentary on our times that churches have to be locked.
Cute little architectural detail. Like it. I lilke taking little details like that. One of my favourite places is the Natural History Museum - fab details all over the building there. Nice shot.
