Better on large view for the detail if you have a moment. Thank you.
Lester and I went to an open day at the Pitstone Green Museum of Rural Life today. It's not very big but it's a delightful place to visit.
After Lester left to finish his bicycle ride, I stayed on for half an hour or so longer and watched Rory here working on the bicycle rack he was forging for himself.
He was very kind and was happy for me to take as many shots as I wanted. I explained to him that I am very much a learner and he said that if I had any photos that turned out OK, would I send him one because he had none of himself working at the forge. Happily, I have a couple that I think he might be reasonably pleased with; it'll be a nice way to say thank you to him for his kindness.
It was incredibly relaxing to watch Rory shape his bike rack bit by bit and the half hour I spent watching and taking shots was a very special time that I'll always remember.
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

I love visiting places like this, and it's great that you have the confidence to say that your photos are of a good enough standard to send to Rory. This is a beauty!
What a great experience!! Building himself a bicycle rack! How wonderful. I am positive he will be thrilled with your photos...and that enjoyed your company as well. Thanks for sharing this, it is so interesting.
It must have been incredibly interesting and calming to watch Rory as he worked! This is a great shot, love the dull colours in the surrounds against the flash of bright fire :)
You find the most interesting places to visit - this is a really nice shot, both of the experience and for its photographic highlights. Like the colors (you can almost feel the heat from the fire against the duller gray/browns) and the different textures make this a unique shot. Bet he loved it!
Oh, how lovely! I do like seeing these. We have a small forge locally that does training weekends occasionally - haven't ever managed to get a decent pic of it though.
How nice to share this great shot with him! Very nice composition and capture of him at work. I have really missed your shots over the past few days, Alison!
