Another photo from my visit to the windmill on Thursday. Another of those probably better on large view ones if you have a moment.
It's been chucking it down here all day again today. Hard to believe this was only a couple of days ago. Still, we have a lot to be grateful for where I live : we have power and are warm and dry, a lot of folks aren't so fortunate.
Edit, 5th Jan. This was taken on 2nd (processed on 3rd as taken date) - seems we had a fine day here on the 2nd last year too : - http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2013-01-02 but in portrait format. :-D
Later edit. Oh, oops, that one was taken on 1st but posted on 2nd. :-)
There's quite a lot of shots of this windmill and the surrounding area in my project. If anyone fancies a look-see, they can be accessed by clicking on 'abpitstone windmill' in 'Tags' in the box to the right of the shot.

I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

Don't worry. My comments still stand - I like the lines in the ground and the lines of the windmill's sails. And I'm staring wistfully at that blue sky
I do so love windmills, so appreciate your postings of them very much. I love the different textures between the green/brown of the plants and the large uneven clumps of soil and the way they both lead your eye to that wonderful windmill and the trees and sky in the distance. Fav!
What a neat shot, Alison. It looks likes there's not another thing around for miles standing all by itself. The lines of the windmill are so beautifully distinct when enlarged.
It's lovely to see the windmill in it's larger setting. I love the composition with the windmill as part of the scene and showing the earth, land and attractive line of trees. Close up view is always great.
I've taken pictures of a thatched windmill in Somerset but would love to know where this one is - the one in Somerset is brilliant but there isn't the distance scene advantage you have in this scene (its harder to get the wide angle)
It's about 15 mins. drive from where I live .
