Super candid shot Alison, the composition is very effective as is the use of b&w which really accentuates those elegant arches and the detail in the lady's cardigan.
Did you get the same shot as her too? I like the humour in this, and of course the dutch tilt! I'm quite a fan of it after being given it in a get pushed challenge last year. Thank you for your kind words re. my hip. It does seem to be improving a little day by day.
There's a lot to think about here - do love the detail and the lovely arches - really neat candid shot - doubt she even knew you were there, totally concentrating. Do like the b&w on architectural shots.
Great leading angle from the lady up to those arches. Good capture of that concentration. The b/w certainly makes you focus on the detail, the notches on her Cardigan and the arches are surprisingly similar.
Like it - great light and like it as B&W. I like the dynamic angle too. You have managed that without a column growing out of your subjects head. Easily done in a church/architecture environment.
The shadow definitions are lovely and soft. You have also captured the wonderful backlighting of the columns in the top right arch - excellent. It really makes the columns stand out as 3d. Great.
I am a little uncertain about the angle of the columns in this. You have an almost perfect line up with the persons view/angle and the columns which is great, but I think a little more angle would have been better. Sometimes small angles just look odd. Bigger angles bring out the emphasis more. I may be guilty of just saying, "that's what I would have done", without a shred of artistic evidence to support such an assertion. But that is how I feel. Funny that feelings stuff! LOL.
Nice work.
