Love this, Alison - the colors are so soothing - the focus really intrigues me - would love to know how to get a shot like this. The tones all go together to whisper spring.
@milaniet Thank you, Milanie, glad you enjoyed it.
You need lots of bright points of light to get the shaped bokeh - the sunlight on the opening leaves on the tree was ideal - new, small leaves, being bright, shiny and not so much of a solid mass as mature leaves, worked well.
Then, you need to switch to manual focus to *un*focus and then experiment to get the right amount of out-of-focus-ness to achieve the desired effect. It's trial and error ; I checked the shots in magnified view on the camera's viewing screen, re-adjusting the focus and taking more shot(s) as needed.
I hope that makes sense, please let me know if it's not clear.
@dulciknit I really do appreciate your tutorial for me - that's what I need - a "personal" instructor! You are wonderful. Now if I can just find me some sunshine I can go try playing.
