Life!!

Autumn and Winter seem, on the face of it, to be seasons when all dies,and/or sleeps. Not a bit of it! Deep down in the ground plants are putting out roots. There are evergreens, and some plants flower gamely on through the year. And, if you look closely, you can see the beginnings of next year's leaves on some plants - like these on my neighbour's Lilac bush.

It is amazing to see new shoots at this time of year. I hope we don't have cold weather that kills them all.
