Vine weevil bitten (probably)

After the shots of snails and their shells, here's an example of what they do to plants, but it was more likely to have been vine weevils wot did it.

:-( My garden looks a bit like that. However, I suspect that isn't snail damage as they don't usually go for tough evergreen leaves. It looks more like vine weevil damage unfortunately.

If you have vine weevils in the garden then watch out for plants suddenly keeling over in the summer, when the grubs start eating roots. They particularly like juicy tender roots, like busy lizzies, primulas and other container plants.
