Rioting lichen

This was growing on a shrub. I've never seen lichen this far developed before; amazing!

Very beautiful. Does it harm the shrub or is the shrub already dying?

@anitahoyle Thank you :-) No, it doesn't seem to be doing the shrub any harm. We've got this type of lichen on some of the shrubs in our garden but it's a lot more restrained than this.
