Finishing up in style

Pre-season rowing camp ended today with the crews all having a motley race against each other. Many parents brought picnics up to Elgin and we all sat on the banks of the dam at the Elgin Country Club and watched the guys. It ended gloriously with one of the coxes of the 8's making a mistake and rowing into the first team. So a Quad of Under 15s took the 'race'. Humph. The older boys are not discussing the details, other than how to punish the hapless cox who turned left instead of right.

The "Cookie Mommies" had a great time. We've discovered that the easiest way to prepare chicken schnitzel in bulk when you have no ovens is on the braai, and there is a significant market for condensed milk over jungle oats after a hard, cold morning session. The boys eat more green salad than we'd expected, but they don't like rice salad with mayo. And it may be better to keep secret just how much hot chocolate they are capable of consuming.
:-) Wasnt Si- went out to Greyton for the night. This was fire alla boy scout style!

Love the story! That's sport isn't it? The cooking sounds interesting. I can imagine the quantities were amazing. What are jungle oats?

@cmt2812: Jungle Oats is a brand name for rolled oats that are best eaten cooked as a breakfast porridge.
