Come now children, share nicely

It's that time of year when recreational cycling along the city's scenic routes is growing to massive proportions. It will peak with the annual Cycle Tour in March when more than 35 000 will participate in the world's biggest timed cycle race.

As a motorist, if you are on the roads early over the week-ends, don't even think about getting irritated. All that will happen is you'll get heartburn, and the finger flashed at you as you push past the get-fit brigade.

As a motorist, I do have a plea to this lady, however. There was no reason that you could not have cycled up Ou Kaapse Weg in the yellow lines. All of the riders behind you did. It was a serious pain for the drivers not being able to get out of first gear because you were determined to make it to the top without stopping.
Mmmm, thanks for reminding me of it! Great shot of her though!

Cycling is a passion in France. Where we are it's a huge thing. Have been a biker and am still a cyclist, so have often seen the problems of 'sharing ' the road. For a long time motorists generally were pretty unreasonable at least in the UK - not all of course. But now it's swung the other way, and some of the cyclists are quite selfish and inconsiderate - again, not all. Share and share alike. The best way.

Everybody has to know "I am here"...

It can be an issue here too on the open roads. My husband tries to plan his routes along the cycle paths which are so much safer.

@mixiewing @cmt2812 Clearly this is not just a local issue!
