For a dog that lives in a 365-enabled household, Bomber is ridiculously camera-shy. He's a Staffordshire Bull-terrier, and as you can see by the muzzle, is getting on in years. This is the first portrait I've taken of him.
Originally started the project to improve my photography skills. Over a 2500 photos later it's become a personal diary. I post pictures that mark my...
What you didn't tell, is that this much loved , doted on. human like family member got stolen and found his way home with the help of his ever loving mother ! Oh Bomber , you're a legend !
I love Staffies. My parenst used to breed them when I was a child, and they both continued to have Staffies after they split up. My Dad had a good few champions. Sadly, in the UK, they are fashion accessories for a certain sector of society who believe that walking a Staffie on a studded harness lends them an air of toughness. They are indiscriminately bred and shelters up and down the country are overflowing with them as people realise that having a dog is hard work.
It breaks my heart. Your boy is blessed to have a family that has taken care of him into his ripe old age.
Is he a 'talker'? It always amazed me that some Staffies just 'talk' and some just don't.
He is a beautiful boy...every time I see a photo as sweet as yours, I soooo want to rush out and get another dog...but then I come to my senses and remember that at my age I am not mature enough to take on all that responsibility again!!!!
@karynromeis He's one of the 'strong and silent' types. Seldom barks, but will bark on command to a hand-sign Michael has taught him. Even when he's locked into a room by mistake he will just sit at the door and snuffle, hoping to catch your attention. I've lived with many dogs over the years, and he's quite the most loving and in-tune dog ever. (His parents were both breed champions.)
@eleanor It would be so funny if it turned out that he was descended from one of my Dad's champions! He does look a lot like one of her brood bitches, but that was *many* years ago, so we would be talking about many generations down the line. One of my Dad's puppies was cast as a young Jock in the movie, Jock of the Bushveld, but it took so long for them to start shooting, that Baron was too old for the part. My Dad was gutted - his big brush with fame ;o)
@karynromeis He's from the Capstone / Stablon bloodline. I love the Jock-coloured Staffies. Don't tell Bomber, but they are, looks-wise, my favourites!
