Not sure how I missed this. How did you get past the boom with your camera? I was at this exact same spot a few weeks ago and they wouldn't allow me to take pictures!
@deens We saw a gap and took it! I have also been turned away by that security guard, but on Tuesday Michael drove up to the boom exactly as it was being opened to allow a vehicle out. I turned to him and said "Just drive in. Don't stop" and we got away with it! Once we'd parked and taken out the cameras we did have a manager from Dorbyl Marine (who are refurbing that rig) come over to send us away. But it was our lucky day - he's also a keen amateur photographer, so he stood around chatting long enough for us to get the shots. He's offered to get me closer to the rig one day, so if you send me your phone number (via Glynnis) and *if* I do get a call with the offer, I can phone you and we can go together? The rig's leaving for the DRC soon. R26 million has been spent on it over the last 6 months.
