Waiting for work

All over South Africa you will find groups of men, standing at the side of the road. Any vehicle that stops nearby will be besieged with people offering their labouring services. It's an informal system where people looking for casual labour will go to find a day worker. This is the face of our endemic unemployment.

These men wait at the end of the Blue Route, at the top of the bridge.
Difficult times but good to see some of these men can still smile for the camera.

Beautiful bright colours in this. You see a similar scene in front of the Labour Ready offices around here....
