Bead-based crafting is HUGE in Southern Africa. It has long traditions, and at it's best is beautiful and interesting. The volume of the available product has also exploded, with many of the items no longer made by hand, but mass produced in factories. I don't know the genesis of these items, but I loved the colours.

Gorgeous colors! My husband's grandmother visited South Africa a few years back, and she brought back this really neat beaded wall hanging for my mother-in-law. It's a shame that these kinds of things have gone over to mass production, but that seems to be the way of the world nowadays.
