Two years ago I was visiting Machampane Wilderness Camp in Mozambique. I took the picture on the left of the collage one tranquil afternoon. My only camera was a 'point and shoot' and it was my inability to achieve what I wanted from my photos on that trip that started me thinking about getting better equipment.
On Wednesday the camp's tranquility was ripped apart by the effects of tropical storm Dando. The picture on the right was taken by a guest who was there. Their picture was taken from nearly the same spot I'd stood at 2 years ago.
My day job includes marketing and media work for Machampane and I've spent the day thinking about that beautiful place. If you every have the opportunity to visit Africa, make the time to visit Machampane. There are so many places that one forgets - but not this beautiful piece of heaven.
Right now the camp is wet, trashed and dirty, but it's wonderful what mops and elbow grease will do!

What a shame, but I hope it gets cleaned-up promptly. You cannot prevent Nature from doing things like this, but you can do everything possible to bring it back to its original beauty.
