I've been excited before at the attitude of this generation of teenagers. Today re-affirmed my faith in the power of their positive self-confidence.
Greg was asked to spend the afternoon painting in the school art-room while prospective families toured the school during 'open day'. The teacher was away and wanted something happening when people came round. Scratching round for a subject to keep himself busy, Greg mentioned to his friend that he'd love a live model - and was thrilled by the offer to sit.
300-odd junior school boys and their parents trouped through the art room this afternoon, studying the model and the art. There were no coy giggles, shy hiding or self-deprecating remarks from the model - and by the end of the day Greg had completed a lovely charcoal drawing. I love that she had the confidence to be there, and that he could get on and create with an audience.

Now that would not have happened when I was a high school. We (girls) lwere not even allowed to look out the window at the boys waiting at the bus stop! Thank heavens attitudes have changed.
