Mtomeni Tented Camp by eleanor

Mtomeni Tented Camp

On the banks of the Great Letaba River, in Letaba Ranch, is a secluded 5-tent camp called Mtomeni. Unfenced from the park, we were asked not to walk along the paths at night because of animal activity. And how! On the first night I was woken by the sounds of animals munching leaves outside and footprints in the morning confirmed buffalo and hippo had made the noise. Early morning we were woken by the sound of a barking baboon troop, and the leopard prints on the pathway told the story. Then on the second night we were literally shaken awake when a buffalo bumped into the wooden deck our tent was pitched on.

Wow, sounds like quite the active animal area - no wonder they don't want you to walk the paths at night! Beautiful light in this!

Beautiful pic - love the soft sunset colours.
Your week sounds fascinating. The African Ivory Route (hope I've got that right) has to be a wonderful experience. I have to admit that I'd never heard of it.
