These are the red gumboots that I bought as a varsity student. When Michael and I broke up the first time, I left them behind in his house. When we got together again he told me that it was his stopping the then girlfriend from throwing them out, that had initiated their good bye conversation. And the realisation that he wanted to marry me.
So I kept the boots all these years. Even after the divorce. Not because I wanted him back, but I honoured the memory. But now it's time for them to find new feet.
