The Fisherman's Wife

(by Denise Huntington)

It’s not as easy as one might think
to love a man who’s forever linked
to his mother the ocean.
He heeds her call
Winter, summer, spring, and fall.
Her salty water runs through his veins
The knot’s been tied and still remains.
His life depends and yours does too,
upon her bounty and tidal moods.
He spends his time upon the sea
and what is left he gives to me.
There’s no use in fighting
the powers of fate.
So here on the shore
I patiently wait.
My face to the water
My eyes on the sea
Hoping that soon
she’ll return him to me.
Is there a poem theme, today? I noticed someone else with a poem in their description, today.

@tdaug80 No, it must be a coincidence.
