I made this picture in order to participate for the first time to the Eye Of The Beholder Challenge, and I would welcome some honest feedback on it because I feel a bit puzzled. I have made numerous shots with different angles and framings, and none of them has really made me happy. I finally selected to post this one, which is only a partial view of the car remains with just a hint of the dried vegetation around, but none of the surrounding wood and cardboard garbage. Thus it does not have any "negative space" around the subject. Do you see some beauty in this picture, or is it mostly a realistic image of a cool subject ?
Personally I am quite fond of this type of photo. I like close-ups of just a portion of the old car or truck. This is unique, I think, because it is a VW so it evokes memories for many of us and it has some lovely rust spots. The bit of vegetation also adds a nice touch. And purple!! I'm not an expert by any means but I find this image very appealing.
100% agree with Karly! In addition, the very meaning of the phrase, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” means our definition of beauty will be different than anyone else’s. Personally, this was an instant fav for me. The crop, the color, the memories - it stopped me, made me smile, and share it with my husband. It is a unique image and I credit your artistic eye. Well done!
Congratulations for making the shortlist for the EOTB challenge. Great colours and composition. And what a fantastic find! Old cars make great subjects and who doesn't love a bit of rust in a photo :)
