Traditional music in Brittany (4)

I am posting three more portraits of traditional musicians that I made in August. This gentleman is playing the “biniou braz”, which is derived from the Scottish great highland bagpipe. In Brittany, this instrument is used only by the “bagadou”, i.e. the big parade and marching bands.
reminds me of Cacaphonix from the Asterix series of comics :

It would be intriguing to see one of these beside a Scottish bagpipe. I like the stark black and white of the musician and his instrument against the coloured background. :)

Googled this as well and to me this sounds very much like the Scottish version, maybe a bit more high pitched ... ? Love your series on Breton music 👍

This series is of special interest to me because of my love of traditional music.
I am familiar with the hurdy-gurdy, which figures in Breton traditional music, I believe? I also enjoy Alan Stivell's Celtic harp playing. I had heard of the bombarde but not of the biniou braz.
The portraits and the information in this series are enlightening and very enjoyable. Thank you!
