I love this picture because it makes me feel the dangerous beauty of this familiar site. These soft sand banks are treacherous. Their arrangement changes from one day to the next because of the strong tide currents that displace tons of sand. They create a scary soft footing that sucks you in. The rising tide comes extremely fast from several sides at the time, so you can be cut by the tide in no time, with no way of neither walking or swimming out. Lifes have been lost here, and I have personally witnessed some very close calls in the previous years, especially with visiting dog walkers not familiar with the area.
It looks so peaceful but you know better!
