The Dolmen of Melus by etienne

The Dolmen of Melus

This neolithic monument is lost in the middle of the fields along the coastline and rarely visited. It is a funeral place dating from the period 3000 to 2500 BC. Its particularity is that the entrance aperture is located on the side (not visible on this picture) rather than at the end. This place is 40 km from home.
I see the lower ground on the far side. Did people walk into the structure for a funeral service?

@k9photo Hello Kate, thanks for your interest. Archeological digs in this monument have found remains of fire pits as well as silex blades, stone axes, and ceramics. So, it is clear that some human activity was happening inside it.
