I had to look him up, but he is a TENT CATERPILLAR! Yuck. (I thought they were darker, but maybe that's elsewhere.) I've seen the damage they can do, so I'll be looking for the tents.
Better to get rid of them before the tents as the tents hold all the future caterpillars. I think the only way to get rid of them in the tent stage- fully get rid of them- is to burn the tents. Kind of risky! But I haven't had to deal with that here yet. It's the Gypsy moths and now the Lantern Flies that we have to deal with (although you can see tent caterpillar tents in along the road at times).
