Shotgun House

LSU's Rural Life Museum

There is something about this simple house that appeals to me. I've posted many photos of it and even made a Christmas card from one of them. Romanticism aside, imagine what is was like to live here--no electricity, no indoor plumbing, probably several children with no TV or internet to entertain them.... And yet I read of a man who grew up in a house like this; he said it was the happiest time of his life because of the farmland and community that surrounded him.
A home is not just walls and a roof, but above all the warmth received from your family.

Sometimes the simplest life is the best very often the happiest. Perfect photo of this home.

Wonderful pov and presentation of this simple house. I know a old neighborhood in San Antonio where these shotgun houses are still occupied.

They are quite simple- but sometimes the simple things are the best. Nice shot.

Love this — the idea of living in a tiny house is very appealing but I’m definitely not a minimalist so I’m sure I couldn’t hack it!
